Lady Candice T. Burns

Lady Candice Tolliver Burns strives to live each day as an example of God’s compassion, courage and kindness.

As First Lady of Rising Sun, Lady Candice is committed to amplifying the voice of women, children and families. From co-hosting conversations on Black Women’s Health and voting rights to supporting the RSFBC women, children and youth ministries, Lady Candice is committed to serving with her sisters in Christ to make a difference.

A 25-year veteran of the communications and marketing industries, Lady Candice has shared her thoughts and work in media outlets including the Washington Post, NPR, FOX News Business, Roland Martin Unfiltered and CBS This Morning. She currently leads communications for some of the nation’s largest, multi-state public school networks with rankings in U.S. News and World Report’s Best High Schools list.

A former Obama administration appointee, Lady Candice served as communications director for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s third-largest agency and was a senior spokesperson for the 2008 Obama for America Presidential Campaign. She’s also held roles on Capitol Hill including communications director for the Congressional Black Caucus and U.S. Congressman John Lewis, D-Ga. Her career began at the CNN Washington and Atlanta bureaus.

Above all, Lady Candice cherishes her role as wife, mother to sons Easton and Ellison and servant of Rising Sun.
